Mimesis and surfaces

Wood-effect ceramics have become a bestseller, although until a few years ago this was considered a kitsch choice. Today, to ensure the execution’s quality, are used tested and easy to use industrial productions,

It is no longer sufficient to provide a project using wood, glass, iron and clay (in its various forms). The designer must outperform the competition, it must keep pace with the times by offering materials and finishes that the customer (great Google user) has never seen to be able to impress him and win the contract. Therefore, he can no longer afford to stop on a traditional offer. He must give metallic effect wood, blackboard effect masonry and cement powder colored paper. For decades, large ceramic companies or those active in the finishes production saw no need to push anything but what for decades has been asked by customers. Today the game is played on several fronts, the other party is no longer just the installer, but the designer itself claims to know what materials and what companies will be used to implement the project. New indicators shift the focus from the price, for example to the environmental impact, that a few years ago was just a quirk of some architects and a few enlightened entrepreneurs. Not only can be imitated a natural material simply with a finish, but also the thickness of a few tenths of mm compared to some cm makes it more sustainable in case of disposal and the most performing material will have more opportunities in a highly competitive market such as interior design.
