Research’s development in Trento’s engineering labs

 We received the December 2016 edition of the information magazine DII News, the Department of engineering of the University of Trento, which reports news about the industrialisation of the new Povo’s branch’s latest scientific research laboratories, after moving from Mesiano, the historical site.

«The main business areas of the new laboratories regard – says Dario Petri, business manager:
• development of new materials and of new production and manufacture technologies within mechanical, biotechnological, energetic and environmental contexts;
• innovative mechanical systems for automation, intelligent electronic systems, wireless sensors, mechatronic systems, cyber- physical systems and those for energy management».

For plastic polymers and composite’s industry the laboratory deals with polymeric and composite materials for industrial applications (new polymers, compounds, composites and nanocomposites), studying its process technologies and in reference to correlations of properties\structure. For coating and corrosion’s industries the lab deals with the study of corrosion on the main metallic alloys of technological interest, thanks to electrochemical techniques (in direct or alternating current and with localized technical). Protective coatings – and paintings – of metallic, ceramic and organic nature, innovative (hybrid coatings) for degradation protection and other functional characteristics (mechanical abrasion resistance, optical properties, and much more) have been also developed.
