Sirca goes green

Thinking about the future by living the present. This is the philosophy that motivates everyone who believes in a better world. This is the definition of resilience, the people capacity to change their style of life to solve the problems. Never as now we are witnesses of lots of weather, environmental and energetic crisis.
We need concrete actions. Today it’s important to do what’s right.
The weather changes represent an urgent and irreversible threat for humans and the planet. The consumers has new moral values such as the environment respect, the decrease in energy needs and in the consumption of no-renewable energies with the consequent decrease of emissions of gas in the atmosphere. This new awareness of the consumers provided the change need.

The climate change is not just an environmental problem, it’s a health threat, because in a warmer world the infectious deseases easily spread. It endangers the food production, making the soils dry and not good for the nourishment production or the pasturage.
It damages the soil itself by flows produced by the increasing level of seas caused by the fusion of the polar caps. Our destiny is inexstricably linked with the one of all the species and ecosystems of the planet.

It has never happened such a high concentration of CO2.  If it smells we would understand the real danger. In May 2017 CO2 reached the highest monthly levels ever, as it shows by the underlying chart National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration statunitense (Noaa).

Today both consumers and companies perceive the necessity to enter in this new socio-economical directive. The main principles are energetic efficiency, low carboon footprint, high- tech content in production and products, the use of renewable and sustainable resources, optimization in the use of raw materials and responsible use of products made by raw materials derived from renewable sources.
During its consumption it goes not only from cradle-to-grave, but from cradle to cradle that includes its rycicle.
To ricycle the garbage means to give a value to the garbage itself, by recovering raw materials useful for the production of new materials.

The wooden furniture, coatings and raw materials for the paint industry sectors move fastly to this direction.
The furniture producers and its suppliers strive to have a much more sustainable production. To reduce carboon footprint they use specific coating materials and products with a low environmental impact effect (such as waterborne products). They allow to have a more healthy workplace and to considerably improve the quality of own domestic indoor environment.

Sirca has always believed responsibly in these values and put attention to these topics. In the last ten years it took a green route to strongly reduce its own products’ carboon footprint, by investing time and resources in reasearching and developing ecofriendly and sustainable products, anticipating times and showing a strong environmental ethos. You could not recycle a coater but you can produce one made of bio-polymers produced with bio-monomers derived from food industry wastes.

Technical solutions S-Cover by Sirca

The forefather of this family has been OW120 and its own catalyst CWN3IO, bicomponent waterborne primer, presented in April 2017, at the European Coating Show.

A bath furniture has been made and exposed in Nuremberg during the ECS, painted with open-pore coating that guarantee a natural effect. The main goal was to demonstrate that you can reduce the use of fossils without losing quality, performances and style, by creating an added value for the consumer, another step ahead for a more sustainable life.

The choosen product, used as a typical water-based bicomponent product, stands out for its 75% renewable content in the A part and 55% in the B part.

Since that moment R&D Laboratory of Sirca has completed the technical solution available to satisfy the interior furniture market, adding matt lacquered finishes, one-piece and two-component, and textured, of the desired final color. Further completion is given by a trasparent primer specific for parquet, that bind high estetical qualities with elevated performances and best chemical and physical resistance.

The same attention and commitment have been dedicated to the frames sector, by developing high quality products and outstanding yellowing resistances and to the atmospheric agents, both transparent and laquered.

Sirca can praise a complete range, unique in the wood coating industry, technical ecofriendly and sustainable tecniques that could embrace every type of producers and final users need.

Great success of the EVENT “CROMATERIA” BY SIRCA during the Design Week in Milan

More than 3000 visits in 5 days and amazing media impact with TV service on Sky Arte channel, the main National daily newspapers (Repubblica, Corriere della Sera, II Giornale, Il Fatto Quotidiano), on historical magazines about design and architecture like Architectural Digest, DDN, Elle Decor: this is the result of Cromateria event, a unique initiative in the coating industry that allows art and design to approach industrial world.
We interviewed Rosalba Busso, Sirca Company Retail, Sales & Marketing Director.

VDL –You lead the event on your own involving the whole company and all your customers too: let’s tell how Sirca company experienced it.
Rosalba Busso - It was a very important design, very satisfying for Sirca and its customers: an idea immediately shared by Vice-president Maurizio Durante and all management.
Such a challenging design needs patience, communication strategy and a great focusing on the final purpose which was that of bringing Sirca coating products in an unknown area, that is design and architectural industry

VDL – People could see various installations manufactured with different material: in this way we can understand that Sirca company is one of the few Italian enterprises with coating products suitable for all surfaces.
RB - When I talk about Sirca coatings I refer to “one Company” concept: we supply to our customers coating products for wood, metal and plastic surfaces, resins and adhesives; this is the reason why we are different from other companies and we will work along these lines.
After all any work, regardless the material with which is manufactured, needs to be coated, but often during the planning phase coatings, solvents adhesives and polymers are not considered, with obvious consequences. Designers and manufacturers must talk together; listen to both demands, to know each other and to renew accordingly,
This is the meaning of Cromateria.

VDL – Why did you choose Museo Diocesano di Milano?

RB - We chose Museo Diocesano di Milano because it is a place full of art, culture and beauty, it is the right frame to hold all those who are hungry of knowledge, and the design week is the right contest to talk about these topics.

VDL –Sirca has been the first manufacturing company of industrial coatings which follows an artistic path during the design week and the great news has been the involvement of its own customers to manufacture the installations.
RB –It is the first time that a coating manufacturing company becomes the only contractor of a system consisting of :location, sponsor, designer, video mapping studio, meeting for architects…all Cromateria actors are chosen and coordinated by Sirca.
It has been a pleasure to read how Sirca –Cromateria has been considered the main event for the Design week in Milan among thousands of events and shows organised during the same days

We must thank Denios, Ferretti & Ferretti, Derthona Serramenti, Falegnameria Biffi e Stil&Ma, Sirca company partners who participated in the project and have been able to manufacture perfectly the single installation coated with certified products, creating colours effects between art and industrial production.
VDL – Cromateria event started softly and soon got its stride during the design week. Which are the main reasons? Do you think that Sirca initiative will have a follow-up?
RB - It was not easy to coordinate such a complex project but finally right ideas, care to details and a great enthusiastic involvement of all “authorised personnel” lead to success.
Sirca will go on with Cromateria path: for example thanks to an important partnership with Ordine degli Architetti di Monza e Brianza, some training course will start soon at “Sirca Academy” room.
Furthermore we are still sponsoring “Serate di Architettura al Belvedere”at Villa Reale in Monza: the show is part of the initiative XXI Triennale Esposizione Internazionale Milano 2016.

Where art is Sirca is there: at least we hope!

CROMATERIA

A series of installations conceived and developed by Luca Trazzi designer, characterised by the creative use of coatings, colours and materials

From 12 to 17 April 2016, during the Milanese design week, the cloister of Diocesan Museum in Milan will host Cromateria, a series of installations supported by Luca Trazzi designer, who will lead the visitor inside a sensory and creative path characterised by the alternative use of coatings, colours and materials.
Cromateria is an event promoted by Sirca, coatings company which, for a long time, pays attention to art and especially to architecture. Sirca vice-president, Maurizio Durante, explains the reasons of this choice: «Cromateria will finally match the designer with the producer. When you touch furniture or other items, you often have to deal with a coating product and it is here that our contribution becomes essential.

We are an integral part of furniture world, and the architecture one, and so we try to meet the requirements of different universes. For this reason we invited our customer-partner to attend Cromateria: none of us is directly involved in Salone del Mobile but we are all elements of a common design process concerning materials and surfaces».

Condividere (Sharing)

Our society has always more the need to share: in every field from culture to communication from economy to the company, the trend is to exchange knowledge and experience across the board. In some fields the principles of sharing and participation are emerging strongly, for example as part of the professional work and the start-up (which often use the co-working formulas), in architecture (which, in theory is the “cradle” of the spirit of sharing of the city’s development choices with the society).
In our industry – which is “widespread” and “infiltrated” in many areas, as we deal with finishing” - the concept of “sharing” is far from being applied. Normally we speak of “copy”, which is totally different.
We begin to perceive the first changes, as companies resume to communicate and to inform the market, paraphrasing an old movie, “starting over by three”: the exhibitions, after the escape of the last years, start again to be crowded (both with exhibitors and visitors); they start again to “advertise” – in the same old way but with new media use; conferences, events, classes are very attended again.
Some companies, such as Sirca and Lechler, which need more than others to take the challenge with worlds not really related to their industry (such as design and architecture, and its main protagonists, the architects and designers) participating actively at the Milan design week (from 12 to 17 April); the first with a series of installations housed in the Cloister of the Diocesan Museum (which is part of the 5 Vie path), between art and industry; the second carrying on the dialogue started last year in a the “laboratory of ideas” in the Lambrate-Ventura area.
To exchange and to share their self knowledge and skills will be essential to overtake the deadlock of the manufacturing industry too highly “engineered”, but at the same time not shared. New ways of communication to reach new “opinion makers” (always to use a word no longer used) will create new ideas and opportunities.
